Conflict of Interest Concerns Raised in Police Corruption Probe
Deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest involving two members of parliament.
Sibiya argued that these members should recuse themselves from the committee investigating police corruption, as they are complainants in criminal cases against him.
I'm advised that I will proceed, but I must indicate that I do so under protest because I will be participating in a process that could be tainted.
Despite his objections, the committee decided that Sibiya should continue with his testimony, with his conflict complaint to be discussed in a meeting on Wednesday after consultation with the speaker of parliament.
