CELEC Shortlists Consultants for Chachimbiro Geothermal Project
Three consultancies have been pre-selected for Phase 1 consultancy work on the Chachimbiro geothermal project in Ecuador.
The project, located in the Urcuquí canton of Imbabura province, is moving towards its development phase with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

JICA and CELEC are expected to select the consultant for initial studies and drilling before the end of 2025.
This will be Ecuador's first geothermal generation project, with a projected capacity of up to 50 MW.
