Dover-Foxcroft restaurant temporarily closes due to ongoing drought

Temporary Closure of Dover-Foxcroft Restaurant Due to Drought

A restaurant in Maine, Peace Love Waffles, has been closed for over two weeks due to a lack of water. The well at the establishment has run dry.

“That’s kind of a part of us being out here. Out here, kind of in the middle of nowhere, we are on our own water system. And that’s something that we had to get approved by the town and everything like that,”

said Michael Begley, the owner of Peace Love Waffles. The restaurant is replacing its old 80-foot well with a new 320-foot one and is expected to reopen this weekend.

It's unusual for a restaurant to rely on well water, but the owner considers it part of the charm of being in rural Maine.

Author's summary: Peace Love Waffles closes temporarily.
