The "Remembering the Children" nonprofit, along with the NDN Collective and community members, gathered at Sioux Park to commemorate the nearly 1,000 children who lost their lives during this dark period in U.S. history.

According to Gabrielle Kenny, a member of the Sicangu Youth Council, and Amy Sazue, Executive Director of the Remembering the Children Memorial, this annual event aims to raise awareness and acknowledge the trauma inflicted upon Indigenous people and youth.
