Man Given Suspended Sentence Following Street Brawl in Dundalk

A 25-year-old man, Colm Bracken, pleaded guilty to affray after a street brawl in Dundalk.

According to the Dundalk Circuit Court, Bracken knocked a man out with a punch and continued to hit and kick him while he was on the ground.

When interviewed by gardaí, Bracken claimed he was acting in self-defence.

The incident occurred on Castletown Road, Dundalk, in the early hours of July 18th, 2021.

Bracken pleaded guilty in May to an amended indictment of affray, after a jury had been sworn in for his trial.
