A BC Supreme Court Justice, Ronald Tindale, acquitted an Atlin man on October 3, after the Crown failed to prove charges of assault, sexual assault, and threatening a woman with death or bodily harm.
Alfred Hanson Dennis pleaded not guilty to the offences, which allegedly occurred in early 2023 against a woman he was travelling with. The trial was held in Prince George and lasted for three days, with a ban on releasing information about the complainant's identity.
The judge had concerns about the credibility of both Dennis and the complainant, and ultimately ruled that he could not decide which one to believe about what happened at the Super 8 Motel in Valemount.
Author's summary: BC man acquitted due to lack of evidence.
