A woman, who was sexually assaulted while unconscious in her own home, has shared her story about the impact of the crime.
The incident occurred in Swaffham after a night out, when the woman returned home with a group of people and fell asleep on the sofa. Her friends later caught the attacker, Aivars Steinbergs, 33, in the act.
"This didn’t happen in a dark alley or a club, it happened whilst I was unconscious having fallen asleep on my sofa, in my own home. This was my first night out since lockdown and I had returned back to where I should feel the safest."
Steinbergs, of Kendle Road, has avoided jail. The victim's statement was issued during his sentencing last week.
