The UK's flagship polar research vessel, RRS Sir David Attenborough, is set to depart for Antarctica to support dozens of climate change-related science projects.
Operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the state-of-the-art ship will aid research on various topics, including underwater tsunamis, glacier melt, and whale populations.
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica',"
BAS oceanographer Peter Davis expressed regret over the US withdrawal from scientific exploration in the region, calling it "a shame".
