Artifact of the Week: Jimmie Johnson Autograph
The 2011 NASCAR Cup Series race at the superspeedway featured tandem drafting, a short-lived phenomenon that made for exciting finishes. One notable moment was when Jimmie Johnson, aided by teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr., won by .002 seconds, tied for the closest finish in NASCAR history.
A checkered flag from that race, signed by both Johnson and Earnhardt Jr., has been found by archivist Sam Ulrich, along with Johnson's trophy from that day.
