Tomonobu Itagaki, the renowned creator of the Dead or Alive franchise and producer of Ninja Gaiden, has died at the age of 58.
According to a post on his Facebook page, Itagaki had asked someone to publish a message when his time was nearing its end.
He says he "stand[s] by [his] beliefs" and has "no regrets", except for "not being able to deliver [his] new work", for which he apologizes to his fans.
Itagaki was best known for creating the Dead or Alive franchise and reviving Ninja Gaiden as a 3D hack-and-slash action game in 2004.
