Northland Regional Council Rejects Māori Wards

A binding poll conducted alongside the 2025 local elections has resulted in a decision against retaining the Māori constituency (Te Raki Māori) on the Northland Regional Council.

The majority of voters opted to remove it, meaning that from the 2028 regional elections onwards, the Māori ward will be abolished.
