Actor Robert Lesser recounts meeting Diane Keaton at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City when she was just 19.
While driving to Los Angeles, Lesser received a call from his wife, Annie, with the sad news of Diane Keaton's passing at 79.
Lesser and Keaton met in 1965 as first-year acting students at the Neighborhood Playhouse, where Keaton, then known as Diane Hall, was a new face in New York City.
At the time, Keaton was staying at The Rehearsal Club, a strictly women's boarding house on West 53rd Street, while Lesser had just scored his first New York apartment.
She was 79, I’m older, so how ever could that be? Though more than a half century back, the memories are sharp, intensely etched as only young love is.
