Enrollment at a Low Point for M State in Detroit Lakes

Enrollment at the M State campus in Detroit Lakes has fallen to 139 students, the lowest of the four M State campuses, due to a steady five-year decline.

Only two programs remain at the campus: nursing and radiologic technology. The significant decrease in student numbers has resulted in a lot of open space in the building.

The Detroit Lakes School District leases various spaces, including the Detroit Lakes Area Learning Center and the Adult Basic Education program, which helps utilize some of the empty space.

Our students are not able to find affordable housing on the Detroit Lakes campus

said M State President Carrie Brimhall, citing a key factor behind the enrollment decrease.
