The Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association (INHFA) has expressed concern over the EU's decisions, which pose a major threat to the future of Irish farming and rural communities.
Since Ireland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) in January 1973, there is no doubt the country has progressed and there is little doubt that the EEC, or now the European Union (EU), has played a major part in this development.
INHFA President Phelim Molloy notes that while progress has been extraordinary, there is a growing concern that the limits of this progress have been reached, and more difficult times may be ahead.
The INHFA's concerns come as the country faces potential challenges to its farming industry.
