A stroke at 31 compromised his painting hand, but it may have made him a better artist.
Artist Jared Hankins found solace in covering his canvases with clouds in various shades of black and white, and detailing rollercoasters.
“These subjects were metaphors for the previous 10 years of my life and what I’d been through,”he said.
Hankins' life changed on July 8, 2006, when he had a stroke. The night before, he had hosted an event at his Denver gallery, had a couple of beers, and felt fine. However, he woke up the next morning with an excruciating headache.
