County Commission to Vote on Override of Mayor's Veto
Shelby County commissioners are set to vote on overriding Mayor Lee Harris' veto of a resolution moving all Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) board seats to the 2026 ballot.
According to the county charter, it will take eight votes to override the veto, which was issued after the commission's September vote to shorten the four-year terms of office of five school board members elected last year.
Mayor Lee Harris vetoed the resolution, but the commission may still override it with enough votes.
