New national youth forum aims to put young people's views at heart of decision making - CYP Now

Launch of Youth Council UK

A UK-wide forum, Youth Council UK (YCUK), has been launched to restore a unified youth voice in policymaking, 19 months after the closure of its predecessor, the British Youth Council (BYC).

YCUK, developed by the National Youth Agency (NYA), will represent young people across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the crown dependencies, ensuring their experiences inform national and international decisions.

Youth Council UK sets a new precedent for youth leadership in the UK... It offers a unique ecosystem where young people from all backgrounds can collaborate on the issues that matter most to them.

— Jasmine Brittan, UK young ambassador and YCUK Youth Advisory Group member

Objectives and Structure

YCUK will elect its first executive committee in January 2026, which will lead on setting national priorities, coordinating campaigns, and engaging directly with ministers and decision-makers.
