State Rep. Marcus Wiedower Resigns

State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) has resigned from his seat, prompting a special election to fill the vacancy. Wiedower, a four-term legislator, represented District 121, which includes most of Oconee County and parts of Clarke County.

“This decision has been incredibly difficult. Serving in the Georgia General Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”

Wiedower stated that he is leaving to focus on his role as vice president of external affairs at Hillpointe, a rapidly growing real estate business. He expressed gratitude to his constituents and colleagues, and plans to remain involved in the community, addressing pressing issues such as attainable housing.
