Windows 11's new Start menu released. Is it better than old Start?

Windows 11's New Start Menu Update

Windows 11 has released a major update for its Start menu in versions 24H2 and 25H2, featuring a single-page, category-based All apps view and more.

The update, part of the optional update KB5067036, is being gradually rolled out and is currently under a Preview tag, indicating that Microsoft will include all changes in the November 2025 Patch Tuesday.

History of the Start Menu

The original Start menu was first launched with Windows 95 in 1995, and since then, it has undergone significant changes, including a major redesign with Windows XP.

With 30 years of development, the Start menu was due for an evolution or possible replacement, an attempt Microsoft made with Windows 8 in 2012.
