Bencic, the Swiss No 1, defeated Wang Yafan 6-2, 6-2, marking her sixth victory in a row after winning the Japan Open.

Earlier, Russia's Anna Kalinskaya defeated Zhang Shuai 6-1, 6-1. Bencic's win comes after being ranked '913 or something' a year ago.
