Complications for Creek Restoration

The North Creek Restoration project is currently underway, with the Kahnawake Environment Protection Office (KEPO) making steady progress, despite some complications. Patrick Ragaz, KEPO's general manager of field science, noted that the main focus is on replacing the old culvert near the apartment complex in the North Creek area.

A new, single-channel culvert will replace the previous one, which had two small channels, aiming to improve water flow and facilitate fish navigation.

“We’re preparing the area for the installation of the new culvert,”
Ragaz said. Upstream from the culvert, excavation of the muck in the creek and placement of stone and other features are underway.

Author's summary: Creek restoration faces complications despite progress.
