Challenges to Monroe's Mayor Friday Ellis
A lawsuit was filed against Monroe independent Mayor Friday Ellis by three Democrats on the City Council and local publisher Roosevelt Wright.
The lawsuit also targets Republicans Gov. Liz Murrill and new Monroe fire chief Timothy Williams, regarding Williams' selection for his post, allowed by a new state law.
Mayor Ellis had previously nominated Williams, but the City Council, led by Democrats, twice rejected the nomination for conflicting reasons.
