Kansas (KU) football's game against Texas Tech has been marred by controversy.
According to KU head coach Lance Leipold, a pocket knife was thrown onto the field in the third quarter, hitting a KU staff member.
Texas Tech has a tradition of throwing tortillas on the field during kickoffs at home football games.
Before the season, the Big 12 announced a rule change regarding fans throwing objects on the field. The first two incidents in a single game will result in warnings. For each time items are thrown on the field after those two warnings, a 15-yard penalty is to be assessed.
