Sibiya Faces MPs Over Locked-Away Dockets, PKTT Disbandment
Suspended Deputy Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya testifies in Parliament over corruption claims, missing dockets, and attempts to disband the PKTT.
Updated by Nushera Soodyal, Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has begun testifying before Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee looking into claims of corruption in the criminal justice system.
KZN police chief Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi claimed in July that an attempt to disband the KZN Political Killings Task Team saw more than 100 dockets taken away and locked in Sibiya's office.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has also testified extensively on Sibiya's efforts to push for the disbandment.
Last week, a raid was conducted at Sibiya's home. On Monday, before he could begin testimony, there was a delay as the committee heard that two MPs had filed criminal complaints against Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is on special leave.
