A Rensselaer restaurant helped give a Troy senior with special needs a special homemade homecoming.
A woman from Troy notes that people may not realize how challenging events like homecoming can be for parents of children with special needs.
“I can’t just drop him off at a dance like all of the other kids,”
She planned a special Saturday night out instead of homecoming, highlighting the need for more inclusive events for kids with special needs.
“It’s not just homecoming. It’s all of these milestones where we have to watch, you know, all of the other kids do. All of these things that most parents get to do. And it’s just so different when you have a special needs kid,”
