Romania's four-party ruling coalition failed to reach an agreement on reducing payroll in local administration during their meeting on October 14.
The meeting also did not address the long-overdue mayoral elections in Bucharest, as reported by Hotnews.ro.
This deadlock marks a significant issue in the functioning of the ruling coalition, which has been under pressure since July when the European Commission sketched a package of measures to avoid losing EU funding.
The coalition seems to have reached its limits after a first package of measures and a mixed second package with major compromises.
The second package is still only half cleared for final promulgation.
