High school homecoming celebrations in Mississippi ended in gunfire, with two separate shootings on opposite sides of the state Friday night.
At least eight people were killed and many more injured, authorities said. Four of the dead were killed in downtown Leland, and about 20 people were injured in the gunfire, according to state Sen. Derrick Simmons.
Mississippi Gov. and Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White declined to provide other information about the crimes.
