Tokamak Energy Joins DOE Fusion Initiative

Tokamak Energy has joined the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Fusion Innovative Research Engine (FIRE) initiative, a $128m program aimed at accelerating core fusion energy science and technology.

The company will develop advanced high-temperature superconductors and advise on eight FIRE projects with top US labs, advancing technologies crucial for commercial fusion, including tritium recovery and pilot plant design.

Tokamak Energy Inc, the US subsidiary of UK-based Tokamak Energy, has been selected for the FIRE Collaboratives.

As part of a University of Houston-led project, Tokamak Energy Inc is helping to develop advanced superconducting tapes designed to withstand neutron irradiation.
