Uzbekistan Launches First SMR Build
Uzbekistan has launched the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant (NPP) using the RITM-200N reactor.
"Today we begin a new stage in the implementation of the project to create nuclear generation in Uzbekistan," said Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev.
The first stage of construction includes the development of a pit for the low-power NPP, with approximately 1.5 million cubic meters of soil to be removed for the 13-meter deep pit.
The project aims to provide a high degree of localization for the construction of the low-power NPP, as stated by Likhachev.
