Microsoft to Introduce AI in Washington Classrooms
Microsoft will provide its artificial intelligence technology to all public school districts and community colleges in Washington next year.
This move is part of the company's Microsoft Elevate Washington initiative, a local effort to spend $4 billion in technology-focused grants and free access to AI tools in education nationwide over the next five years.
- 295 school districts will receive access to AI tools and training
- 34 community and technical colleges will also receive access to AI tools and training
- Up to 10 school districts and 10 community colleges can receive $25,000 grants to create and deploy AI tools
Proponents of the technology's use in classrooms argue that the workforce is already adopting it, so students had better be ready.
