The Democratic Alliance (DA) has condemned Panyaza Lesufi and his ANC allies for exploiting the Tembisa Hospital SIU report for cheap political gain.
A report revealed that around R2 billion was stolen from the hospital, contributing to the death of Babita Deokoran and turning patients into victims.
The immediate moral question is this: how can you pray - or even pretend to pray - for a hospital that your own cadres helped plunder, pillage, and where whistleblowers were targeted and killed.
The Gauteng government's response to the report was to host a prayer service, which the DA describes as "a new low – even for the ANC" and an affront to the patients affected by their greed.
The DA Gauteng leader, Solly Msimanga, says this stunt makes a mockery of the central tenets of religion.
