The Massachusetts Sanitary Code (105 CMR 410.000) sets out the minimum standards for:
- kitchen facilities
- bathroom facilities
- ceiling heights
- window size and location
- electrical outlets per room
- heating capabilities
- hot water requirements
- lead paint
- ventilation
- smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Tenants have the right to request their landlord remedy any non-compliance within a reasonable period.
