Government Launches First Digital ID
The UK government has introduced the first digital ID as part of its plan to digitalize various forms of identification.
Last month, the government announced plans for digital ID cards, known as "Britcards," to combat illegal immigration and verify citizens' right to live and work in the UK.
- Digital IDs will be required for anyone starting a new job in the UK.
- The first digital IDs, called digital veteran cards, are available for ex-members of the armed services.
The digital veteran ID cards were presented at an event at the Tower of London, where Beefeaters showcased their new digital IDs.
