BYD Orders Massive Recall
BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced its largest recall to date, affecting over 115,000 cars.
The recall was prompted by regulators who found safety risks related to design and battery issues. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) stated that BYD will recall 44,535 Tang series SUVs and 71,248 Yuan Pro electric cars.
- 44,535 Tang series SUVs (built between March 2015 and July 2017) due to design flaws that could cause malfunctions
- 71,248 Yuan Pro electric cars (made between February 2021 and August 2022) due to problems in battery installation that could increase fire risk
BYD has filed a plan to replace parts and update systems free of charge.
Battery safety has always been the tightrope every EV maker walks.
