Inside Steven Gerrard Rangers snub as Derek McInnes and Danny Rohl emerge as new front-runners

Rangers' Search for a New Manager

Following Steven Gerrard's decision not to return to Rangers, the club is exploring alternative options for a new manager. Derek McInnes, the current Hearts manager, and Danny Rohl have emerged as front-runners for the position.

Initially, Gerrard had agreed in principle to return to Rangers after lengthy talks on Thursday. However, the details of the deal were not finalized, and the move was ultimately called off by the former Liverpool boss.

Rangers chairman Andrew Cavanagh made another approach on Sunday to try and convince Gerrard, but the answer was a reluctant no.

With Gerrard no longer an option, Rangers are now considering other candidates. Sean Dyche, who had initial talks with the club, is not being considered further after turning down the opportunity to discuss the position in more detail. Derek McInnes and Kevin Muscat are currently held in high regard by the Rangers hierarchy.
