Acting Attorney General Siromi Turaga has confirmed that bills to amend Fiji's electoral laws are ready.
During the People's Alliance AGM, Turaga stated that consultations have been completed on the Electoral Act, Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding & Disclosures) Act, and the Electoral (Registration of Voters) Act.
The bills are prepared within the constitution and will change the electoral rules.
Turaga noted that the bills will be presented to the cabinet soon and that the 2026 general elections will be conducted within the framework of the 2013 constitution until a referendum is held.
The review report of the electoral laws has not been made public by the government yet.
