A New Partnership to Support People with Brain Injuries

A New Partnership to Support People with Brain Injuries

Headway Devon, a local charity based in Exeter, specializes in helping people rehabilitate from head injuries.

They have partnered with Thompsons Solicitors, MAPS Benevolent Trust, and the Players of the Postcode Lottery to provide support to individuals with brain injuries.

After brain injury people are discharged home to a family network without wider support. You've spent months in hospital, in ICU, in rehabilitation with a team of clinicians around you and suddenly you're all alone.

This partnership aims to address the issue of people being discharged from hospital without adequate support, often with no understanding of their brain injury and unsure of how to navigate the legal process for compensation.

Headway Devon currently works with around 100 people weekly, but there are many more who go home alone without knowing about their services.

Thanks to the support of their partners, Headway Devon can now reach out to people in the hospital, providing them with the necessary support and guidance during their recovery.

Author's summary: Partnership supports brain injury patients.
