A former Western Washington University police officer, Robert Anderson, was fired after striking a handcuffed suspect during an arrest on campus in early 2024.
Anderson, 44, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault in September 2024 following a criminal investigation by Mount Vernon Police Department.
Anderson was rehired, then quickly fired, by Lummi police after the incident.
