Research ICT Africa Develops AI Framework for Africa
Research ICT Africa, a non-profit think tank, has created the Just AI Framework of Inquiry to assist African policymakers, researchers, and technologists in navigating AI.
The framework, developed by RIA executive director Pria Chetty and deputy director Dr Araba Sey, aims to help African stakeholders understand the complexities of developing artificial intelligence systems.
As AI technologies proliferate across every sector of society, the Just AI Framework of Inquiry reframes global debates on ethics and fairness by centring justice as the fundamental quality AI systems must embody.
The framework is part of the second phase of the Africa Just AI project and responds to the need to ground AI policy in Africa’s historical and contemporary contexts.
