A study of 228 patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) found that increased gut inflammation, measured by fecal calprotectin, is linked to greater structural spinal damage.

- This cross-sectional analysis stratified patients by fecal calprotectin levels: < 50 mg/kg, 50-149 mg/kg, and ≥ 150 mg/kg.
