Insulin resistance was associated with adverse clinical outcomes among patients with PCOS and normal weight undergoing IVF/ICSI.
Insulin resistance (IR) is associated with adverse effects on oocyte fertilization competence and early embryonic development among patients with normal weight and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), according to study findings published in Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology.
To assess the impact of IR on clinical outcomes among patients with PCOS undergoing IVF/ICSI, investigators conducted a retrospective cohort study using the medical records of 1768 patients with PCOS at Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.
Included patients did not take any insulin-sensitizing medications or hormonal therapies for at least 3 months prior to ovarian stimulation.
Insulin resistance affects IVF outcomes in PCOS patients.
