The Vhuilafuri Stadium in Madabani, west of Louis Trichardt, has been handed over to the community after a two-year delay, but its soccer pitch remains unusable.
The grass on the pitch has not grown adequately due to water shortages, despite the drilling of three boreholes, only one of which produces water, and not enough to irrigate the stadium.
Residents can use the stadium, but not the pitch, which is not ready because the grass has not grown. We are not certain how long it will take, maybe rain will help … Our plan is to apply for additional funding for paving and possibly artificial grass.
Author's summary: New stadium can't host soccer due to water shortages.
