Back-up unlikely for Buckaroo
Prominent owner Ozzie Kheir admits he was "a bit sooky" after Saturday's defeat, with a Caulfield Cup start unlikely.
Kheir told The Verdict podcast no final decision had been made on where Buckaroo would head next, but the horse hadn’t performed as hoped on Saturday, finishing third behind Globe and Treasurethe Moment in a four-horse field.
"I thought he was disappointing, myself," Kheir said. "But when you dive into it, you can make excuses."
Kheir said he thought Buckaroo, sent around at $2.70 at the weekend, would win the Might And Power Stakes.
Author's summary: Buckaroo unlikely to start in Caulfield Cup.
