Government Shutdown Compounds Pain for Federal Contractors and Employees
Rep. James Walkinshaw, D-Va., notes that the shutdown amplifies the billions in contract cancellations and workforce cuts.
As the government shutdown nears its fifth week, Rep. James Walkinshaw emphasizes the importance of considering the broader context of the past year.
“It is very important to put the shutdown in the context of this year,”he said during a press briefing at the Professional Services Council’s annual defense conference.
The Trump administration has cancelled $20 billion in contracts, with $2.3 billion of that total affecting Walkinshaw’s 11th district of Virginia.
“We’re the number one congressional district for contract cancellations and terminations over the course of this year,”he noted.
