The Government will establish a three-year vanguard project with employers and health providers to create a new "healthy work standard" and reduce employee absenteeism.
This project is based on the recommendations of the Keep Britain Working review, led by Sir Charlie Mayfield, which calls for a
"fundamental shift"in approach to workplace health and wellbeing.
The review proposes moving from a model where health at work is largely left to the individual and the NHS, to one where it becomes
"a shared responsibility between employers, employees and health services".
Key to this will be employers working with health service providers, including GPs, primary healthcare services, occupational health providers, EAPs, insurers, and other third parties.
