A person was fatally shot in a predawn gunfight with sheriff's deputies in Northport on Wednesday morning after fleeing from police in Hale County.
According to Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, the deceased suspect was involved in a vehicle pursuit with Hale County Sheriff's Deputies and the Moundville Police Department.
"The suspect vehicle came to a stop at Bell Auto Parts, 410 Bridge Avenue, in Northport," Kennedy said. "Shots were fired by the suspect and law enforcement at this location, and the suspect is deceased.
