The Ministry of Finance has found that while the Public-Private Partnership for the Free Medical Scheme has been successful, with most General Practitioners being paid in a timely manner, some GPs have been identified as overcharging and showing anomalies.
The Ministry has a system in place to address such issues, where payments are held back and only released after claims are reconciled, in cases where GPs try to abuse the system.
The Public-Private Partnership for the Free Medical Scheme was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the Government’s health and economic response strategy and has continued since then.
