SC gives Vodafone Idea a breather

The Supreme Court allowed the DoT to reassess Vodafone Idea's adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, citing "peculiar facts and circumstances" of the case.
This move opens a window for the debt-laden telecom service provider to seek a recalibration of its long-standing dues, which has weighed heavily on its financial health.
The issue now lies within the policy framework of the Centre.
A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai stated there was no reason to bar the Union government from reassessing the amount claimed from Vodafone Idea.
